Open Training Event

Working Within Diversity: an anti-oppressive model for therapeutic practice

Saturday 2nd December 2023
2.00pm – 4.00pm

Outline

This webinar will introduce you to the brand-new Working Within Diversity model of anti-oppressive practice. A model which has evolved from Myira’s extensive clinical experience as a Counsellor, Supervisor and Tutor, to deliver anti-oppressive practice in her own work. The webinar will focus on the move towards anti-oppressive practice, what the commitments are to anti-oppressive practice and why we need to be consciously working ‘within’ diversity and not ‘with’ diversity. The webinar will introduce the Working Within Diversity 5-component model and its’ underlying principles to identify what the key elements of anti-oppressive practice are and how we can utilise this model in our therapeutic and supervision work. The webinar will consist of a 1-hour presentation followed by a 1-hour reflective and Q & A space to reflect on the material presented.
